  • “We had given up on seeing dolphins after two other trips elsewhere. Twenty minutes out on Delfino the captain cut the engine and there were six of them around the bow. My daughter still talks about it.”

The dolphins live here. We know where to look.

A resident population of bottlenose dolphins hunts along the Istrian coast, closest to shore in the calm of the evening. Our skippers grew up on this water. They read it the way you read the street you grew up on.

The crew behind DELFINO

The Delfino fleet.

A modern motor yacht, a traditional lunch boat and a little wooden boat for island days. Three different ways to meet the coast, all starting from Rovinj.

Rovinj riva · berth 01

Modern motor yacht

Delfino

Our newest boat and the one with the dolphin on her side. Wide decks, shade where you want it, and a high bow made for spotting fins before anyone else does.

Decks:
Covered upper deck, open sun deck at the bow
On board:
Bar, toilets, life jackets for all ages
Bonaca, a traditional wooden boat with a tall mast and an orange hull, mirrored in a flat calm harbour
Rovinj riva · berth 02

Traditional wooden boat · 130 seats

Bonaca

Built from wood the old way and big enough for a long, slow day. Bonaca is what we call a dead-calm sea, the kind of day she was made for: lunch off the grill, wine at the table, a swim off the stern.

Seats:
130, most of them in the shade
On board:
Galley and grill, swim ladder, toilets
Galeb, a small white wooden boat with a blue stripe, tied up below stone houses and bougainvillea
Rovinj riva · berth 03

Small wooden boat

Galeb

Galeb means seagull. She is the smallest of the three and the nimblest, slipping into coves and island beaches the big boats can't reach. Short trips, small groups, close to the water.

Feel:
Small groups, low to the water
On board:
Sun awning, swim ladder, cool box

Before you ask

Not here? Call or message us. Someone from the family picks up, usually from the riva.

Where do the boats leave from?

All three boats leave from the riva, the harbour front below Rovinj old town. Delfino uses berth 1, Bonaca berth 2 and Galeb berth 3. Your ticket names your boat, what she looks like and her berth. If you need a hand, find the Delfino booth on the riva and we'll walk you over.

Will we definitely see dolphins?

They are wild, so nobody can promise. What we can promise is skippers who have spent their working lives on this stretch of sea and know where the pods tend to feed at dusk. We never chase, feed or crowd them; when we find them, the engine drops to idle and they choose how close to come.

What's included on the fish picnic?

Lunch of grilled fish, or chicken if you prefer, with bread and salad, and wine at the table. Juice and water are free all day. Beer and other drinks are sold at the bar on board.

Can I pay part now and the rest on board?

Yes. Pay a deposit online to hold your seats and settle the rest on board, in cash or by card. If you'd rather not think about it on the day, pay the full fare online.

What if the weather is bad?

If we cancel a trip because of wind or weather, you choose: a full refund of everything you paid, or seats on another day. We decide on the morning of the trip and message you straight away.

How much do children pay?

Children from 3 to 11 pay the kids' fare shown on every trip, and children under 3 travel free on a lap. We carry life jackets in every size. The Old Town Panorama is the easiest start for little ones.

What should we bring?

Sun cream, a hat and water for the day trips, swimwear and a towel for the trips with a swim stop, and a light jacket for the evening dolphin cruise. Each trip page lists what to pack.

Can I board from a campsite?

On the Lim Fjord Fish Picnic we stop at the campsite jetties along the bay. Pick your boarding point when you book and we'll collect you there in the morning and drop you back in the afternoon.

Can we hire a whole boat?

Yes, for groups, schools, agencies, weddings and company outings, before, during and after the main season. Bonaca takes up to 130 guests. Message, email or call us and we'll put together a day around your group.

Coming as a group?

Schools, clubs, agencies, weddings, company days out. Bonaca seats 130, and we sail before and after the main season too. Send us a date and a headcount and we’ll build the day around you.
